Our mission
We see education as the key to opportunity in life. But as U.S. students continue to fall behind other countries and as Nevada's students continue to perform at the lowest levels in the country these opportunities diminish. The Andre Agassi Foundation for Education is more than a school or a set of beliefs. It is a movement committed to transforming public education in the United States through our school in Las Vegas and by influencing state and national policy, so that all children have a shot at success.
Since the inception of the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education in 1994, $150 million dollars has been raised to benefit the mission of the Foundation.
Creating opportunities through education: Agassi Prep
We put these beliefs into practice at Agassi Prep by closing the gap between the low level of funding the state of Nevada provides and the appropriate level of funding that is required to deliver a quality education. In 2001, we opened our award-winning campus, which today houses three schools elementary, middle and high school in the heart of one of our city's most historically underserved and economically challenged neighborhoods. Ours is a climate of hope and high expectations, where we nurture children but also provide the focus and discipline they need to reach their potential and achieve their dreams:
In June 2009, Agassi Prep graduated its first senior class with 100% of the students accepted to college.
Bringing about positive changes in the public education system
As we directly impact students and our community through our charitable foundation, our work has broader implications for educational policies and practices nationwide. After all, if we can achieve a 100% graduation and college acceptance rate among our senior class imagine what we can accomplish everywhere.
